Live Performance On 180g Double LP!
Recorded live at Carnegie Hall, The New York Concert features Evgeny Kissin in arare performance as a chamber musician, performing with the nine-timeGrammy-winning Emerson String Quartet. The New York Times raved about theconcert, calling Kissin a “dynamo” with “an unfailingly fine, eventouch” and the Emersons “as melting individually, singing limpid, sinuousmelodies, as they were powerful in their unified outbursts.”
The prospect of an evening of chamber music made by Evgeny Kissin and theEmerson String Quartet was bound to raise the highest expectations. But whatwould their first collaboration bring? That question was answered in full overthe course of eight concerts given in January and April of 2018 in Baden-Baden,Paris, Munich, Essen, Vienna, Chicago, Boston and New York. To say that theresults projected into music by Mozart, Fauré and Dvorák were special wouldbe an understatement, as can be heard in The New York Concert, DeutscheGrammophons recording of the tours final date at Carnegie Hall.
“These recordings were made in the moment of performance,” observesKissin. “Live recordings always surpass studio albums for me, because I feelmore inspired when playing for an audience. It means a lot to me to be able toshare the spirit of that live experience with others.”
