Idina Menzel Holiday Wishes LP

The voice behind the highest-grossing animated film of all time, Frozen, Idina Menzel is a 3x Tony Award Nominee and Tony Award Winner. Idina made history as the first person with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting. She has sold over6 million albums and 3 million singles in the US.

Holiday Wishes is produced by Grammy Award-winner Walter Afanasieff (Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey) and features such classic favorites as “A Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”.

The songs aren’t original, in selection or arrangement, but the one thing they have going for them is simply…Idina. Her voice is nothing short of extraordinary. The songs, familiar as they may be, are worth another listen just because it isthis woman singing them. Do You Hear What I Hear, Silent Night and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas are performed beautifully if not exactly as expected. The Christmas Song is pretty and fresh and Idina absolutely elevates it in her vocal deliverytowards the end. White Christmas is given a jazzy spin with a feature saxophone and a vocal that dares you to try to keep up with her. All I Want For Christmas is a daring choice, and stands up to Mariah Carey’s original well enough. The stand outsby far however are the surprising inclusion of When You Wish Upon A Star, the Michael Bublé duet Baby It’s Cold Outside and the refreshing cover of Joni Mitchell’s River.

Idina Menzel’s Holiday Wishes is filled with all the warmth and mirth one could want and expect from a holiday album. Each track lets her show off the aspects of her voice that made her the star she is. Most importantly, this album is sure to enchanteveryone from one to ninety-two, making their holiday seasons that much brighter. It truly is the Christmas album many of us have been waiting for.
